All it takes is bringing in one egg capsule, six months later you have an infestation.

Brown-banded Cockroach & Sanitation

When beginning your Brown-banded Cockroach control program, sanitation is one of the first things to consider. Brown-banded Cockroaches only need a small amount of food to sustain them.

  1. Remove indoor trash or keep them emptied.
  2. Keep trash dumpsters clean.
  3. Make sure food is not left in sink stainers and frequently run the garbage disposal.
  4. Keep dishes clean, no residue of food remaining.
  5. All kitchen appliances (microwaves, toasters, ovens, refrigerators and stoves) should be maintained in a clean condition so that it is food free and grease free.
  6. All pet food needs to be picked up.
  7. No food left out.
  8. Sweeping or vacuuming of any food particles or crumbs.
  9. Clean any crumbs or food particles in your kitchen cabinets.

Inspection : Look for Evidence

When inspecting for Brown-banded Cockroaches, thoroughness is very important. It is important to place the insecticides as close to their runways and harborage as possible. Their excrement looks like black pepper.

A flashlight would be a handy tool to check the following places.

  1. Cracks and Crevice
  2. Behind and under refrigerators
  3. Behind and under stoves
  4. Behind and under microwavesa and toasters
  5. Under tops of tables
  6. Behind and under sinks
  7. Cabinets-corners and cracks and crevices
  8. Motors of refrigerators and soft drink dispensing machines
  9. Switchboxes and electical outlets
  10. Under and behind cafeteria counters and soda fountains
  11. Cash registers
  12. Telephones
  13. Vegetable bins
  14. Recycling bins
  15. Meat counters and check-out stands
  16. Meat cutting blocks
  17. Anywhere else conditions are favorable.
  18. Every situation may be different, inspect all places with favorable conditions
